This skirt was the precursor to my skirt addiction. I purchased it from Anthrolpologie online. Skirts weren’t really my thing, but the picture on the website was gorgeous and it was unique, so I plunked down the cash for it. The first time I wore it I felt kind of awkward, so I stuck it back into my closet to “marinate”.
It was a black linen skirt with lace trim that TRULY got me going on the skirt addiction, just a couple months later. Once that was …

I bought this at the Camarillo outlets. I needed a dress or two for my bridal showers, so my maid of honor and I went out the day before Thanksgiving (we got AWESOME deals and bought the place out – my back seat was filled to the brim with packages). This Betsey Johnson steal was a $280 dress marked down to $50 because it was a sample.
We went to Betsey Johnson early in our day and I tried it on, but wasn’t 100% sure about it. They …

A friend of mine saw these and said “You can’t wear those, those are a work of art!” With their berry-colored quilted velvet, contrasting mustard-colored ribbon, and red lacquered heel, they damn near are.
I have seen these in a wide variety of colors on various sites and on ebay. I almost bought a pair in lavender with light green ribbon, but lost out on them at sale price. Zappos had ONE pair of these left, in a 39 (how convenient – in Marc Jacobs shoes, I can …

I know this is not a paisley, but I couldn’t think of anything else to call this one. I think I bought this from Nordstrom.com’s sale section. It was a few years ago. I was drawn to the wild pattern. It’s not quite mod, it’s not quite paisley… it’s just loud. I find that I prefer clothing without patterns, just interesting cuts and colors and fabrics, so I seem to be drawn towards really loud shoes and accessories. The colors make it a great …

I know, I am waaaaay behind in my blogging, so let’s jump right in with this adorable retro piece.
Picked this up for about $20 on the Macy’s sale rack. Gotta love those sale racks! I am starting to really enjoy polka dots. The pattern plus the cut of this blouse feels very retro to me. The princess seams are exceedingly flattering. What else can I say about this top? It’s cute!
I almost wore it with a pair of polka dot ballet flats I realized …

I bought this coat in either 1999 or 2000. I will admit: I bought it from Hot Topic (for those that don’t know, Hot Topic is like the WalMart of goth and punk clothing, located in malls all across this country. Hot Topic is regarded as trendy and popular with 14 year olds – like Tim Burton’s Abercrombie & Fitch). However, I will say this about Hot Topic: they do carry some good brands (or at least they did when I used to shop there) like Lip …

Finally! A sexy sweater! In Los Angeles, I don’t have occasion to wear a sweater too often, but it can get pretty cold between November and January. I have a few sweaters, but they are all big and bulky.
I had been admiring the season’s sequined sweaters. I love shiny things, but all the sweaters I found were either in the $300+ range, or were cheap looking. I lucked out with this Michael Kors sweater – on the Macy’s sales rack for $40. It …

This was a present from my folks for my 26th birthday. Well, actually, THIS was my birthday present, but in black:
It’s a nice bag, but I’m sure if you have read any of my other posts, you will know that this is a little sedate for my tastes. My parents picked it out together. My mom had her doubts, but my dad, in an attempt to “mature me,” thought I needed a classy black handbag. It was a little dull, but the clincher was that it …

I was instantly drawn to this bag at Nordstrom Rack. The combination of the enormous, fluffy, soft coat of fur and the eye-searing color was irresistable. It was $60, but marked down from over $200. I didn’t really want to spend the $60, especially on what is basically a novelty purse. But it was so soft and snuggly. I carried it around the store while I continued to shop. By the time I was ready to check out, I had bonded with the purse …

This skirt is obnoxious for two reasons: one, because of the loud orange color. And two, because I bought it at H&M. Let’s start there.
Several friends have told me that I NEED to go to H&M. They don’t have any in Los Angeles, but they do in San Francisco, where we recently vacationed, so I made sure to stop in. The people who told me that I need to go to H&M are no longer my friends.
Yes, I am a bit of a fashion elitist, but not …
