I am a recovering goth/punk girl. In high school, I wore capes, vinyl pants, put purple streaks in my hair… that whole crazy “rebellious” look that is positively mainstream nowadays. But I never lost that love for edgy fashion, which is why I love Boaz’s rocker-chic line of pants.
Boaz David was born and trained in Israel before making the move to New York City. His style is heavily influenced by classic British punk rockers like Sex Pistols and The Clash. These punk rock inspirations are not only visible in his clothing, but even in his website - the layout and menus are reminiscent of a band’s web page. His “About” page is titled “Lyrics” and the “Tour” page is where you can find stockist information.
This particular style is one of Boaz’s most popular. They are lightweight, with a touch of stretch, and very comfortable. The cut is perfect - low-slung, but not fat-hairy-middle-aged-plummer low. The kind of pants that are easy to wear - pull them on, throw on a t-shirt, and go. A perfect way to look hot even after a late night rockin’ - only your red-rimmed eyes will give away your hangover.
The leather trim looks weather beaten, worn, like many a night spent on a motorcycle. The Xs on the knees - a common theme throughout the Boaz line - are like a grown-up version of the bondage pants that are so popular with kids today (could I possibly sound any older?). The text on the back placket is stylized Hebrew, translating to: “Bless you who dresses the naked.” I’m all for (other people’s) nudity, but these pants are pretty damned sexy.
I’m really looking forward to future collections from Boaz. There is an edgy, rock-star quality to his designs, but wearing them, I don’t feel like some slacker teenager. There is a maturity to the pants, with the grey plaid fabric, and sexy - not slutty - cut. He already has a couple of hot biker jacket-inspired blazers in his Spring collection; hopefully that indicates a wider range of pieces in the future.
