Update on my Waterfield “Everything” Bag

I few months ago I wrote about my new “everything” bag by Waterfield Designs. Back then, I had only used that bag for everyday uses – work, gym, etc. But last week I put it through the real test – taking it on location – and it exceeded my wildest expectations.
It truly held everything I needed – script, notebook, wallet, sewing kit, camera, sunblock, etc. The pockets were perfectly placed so that sunglasses, cell phone, and pens were easily accessible at a moments notice. The material …

I have a love/hate relationship with boots. Up until recently, I had about a half-dozen pairs of boots. And I can’t remember wearing a single pair of them since high school. Even then, the wearings were few and far between. Back then, I hardly ever wore skirts, and it seemed pointless to wear knee-high boots with jeans. Even now, most of my skirts and dresses are far too summery to wear boots with. I have never really found boots to be particularly comfortable. My …

My husband and I have what he calls an “Apple Store Aesthetic.” When it comes to design and decor, we like clean, modern lines and mostly monochromatic color schemes. I have already decided that when we buy a house, I will decorate it in white, black, red, and stainless steel. Naturally, these necklaces by Blend Creations caught my eye immediately. This jewelry certainly does blend many dichotomies: east and west; modern and traditional; masculine and feminine.

The rectangular pendant, brushed steel and mother of pearl, is simple …

I am back, but in four or five pieces. The shoot was chaotic and crazy, but otherwise a success. I had a lot of fun with this crew, made a lot of friends, and small-town life wasn’t as bad as I feared (though it was impossible to get food after 10pm). I had been fighting a cold all week, and it didn’t hit full-force until about an hour after I got home. On top of that, the day before I left, I lost my laptop, and …

For those that don’t know, besides being a writer, I am also a TV producer. I am currently in production on a new show, and we are about to go on location. Sadly I don’t think I will be able to update while I am away.
Look for Spork Fashion’s triumphant return on June 25th… if the show doesn’t kill me…

Smart Heels: A Smart Way to Protect Your Shoes

The moment I saw Smart Heels, I was fascinated. I just had to try them. When I got them, they completely exceeded my expectations.
Smart Heels were born out of tragedy. Moments after stepping outside in brand new Choos, inventor Stacie Urbach’s heel fell prey to a crack in the New York sidewalk. The kind of event that would make most women cry instead turned Stacie into a problem-solver. When she couldn’t find a product to protect her beloved shoes, she invented her own, …

Fusion Illusion Brings Fine Detailing to Fused Glass Creations

Since a friend turned me on to fused glass jewelry, I have not been able to get enough. Most of the pieces I have seen are glittering amalgamations of fantastic colors. Each piece is big, bright, chunky, and definitely a showpiece.
This pendant by Fusion Illusion is a surprising departure from this style of fused glass. A delicate, Asian-inspired flower in relief, set on opaque black glass offers a sedate example of fused glass. Don’t get me wrong; this piece is by no means boring. It is …

Tucker Paisley Creates Very Personal Handbags

It’s tough finding the perfect clutch. Whenever I go searching for one, they are too small, too overdone, or too oddly casual (Le Sport Sac, for one). Tucker Paisley brings us the Emma clutch in their new 2007 line – possibly the most perfect clutch ever.
“We wanted to do something different from what was out there which, was mostly leather bags with lots of stuff on them — jewels, fringe, hardware etc.,” says Tracy Fredkin, one the creators of Tucker Paisley. “We were going for a …

If you have read even one article on this site, you know that I am always on the lookout for new, unique, and innovative products and designs. Hence the attraction to Alex Story Jewelry.
Alex’s background is in sculpture, metal smithing, and welding. She trained in these crafts in Paris and London, but found her creations difficult to transport. Upon returning to her native New York, Alex turned towards jewelry, creating wearable sculptures that were far easier to pack in a suitcase.
This ring is Alex’s Deco Ring – …

Ok, this isn’t really couture. But every self-respecting fashionista has dozens of painful shoes… so these are must-haves.

First we have the Band-Aid Blister Block Stick. It looks like a travel-sized stick of deodorant, and promises to create an invisible barrier of protection – no stickiness, no stains. And it really delivers. A few weeks ago, we were in Vegas, and I put on the Blister Block Stick before going out in my Marc Jacobs Bronze Pumps. I applied to my heels, the outer edge of …
