This is the only item from the Gap you will find in my closet. Somehow I ended up with a gift certificate to the Gap. I think it may have been from a returned gift, but it had been sitting in my wallet for so long I can’t remember.
I tried to spend it, I really did. Every time I went to the mall I stopped into the Gap, trying to find something to spend it on. But everything was just so… bland. Boring. Nothing I wanted to be seen in. I tried to spend it on pajamas, but even that didn’t work. Nothing was soft enough, or came in a color or style I would be willing to even sit around the house in. I tried some of their bath & body products, but I couldn’t stand the scents.
This gift certificate sat in my wallet for at least two years. Finally, finally, I found these flats. The were exactly the cost of my gift card so I wouldn’t have a horrible $2.34 left over. Plus I didn’t own any gold shoes, and I am always trying to expand the color palette of my shoes. I plunked down my gift card, glad to have it gone finally, and begrudingly handed over one-dollar-and-change to cover the tax.
Funny thing is, these damned shoes sat in my closet for a good six months before I finally pulled them out and wore them. I guess the Gap stigma was still to high. As far as comfort goes, they are average. The leather is soft, but the little straps twist easily and dig into the top of the foot. Plus the little tab at the back rubs your heel raw. They are cute for a casual dinner or running errands though.

I know what you mean. By some miracle I managed to find a couple pairs of jeans there that fit great. I even managed to find a few other items, so I signed up for their card and got some coupons. Then nothing. I couldn’t find anything I remotely wanted.
Among the few items I did buy were two pairs of their leather ballet flats - one pair in black, the other in dark brown. They are - or I should say ‘were’ - pretty comfy. I got the black pair wet and now they dig into the back of my heel pretty bad. The other pair also digs there, but not as bad. I should stretch them out, but I keep forgetting because I’ve since bought other flats at Payless that are much more comfy and cute (and a heck of a lot cheaper).
I hope your shoes get more comfy somehow, They are cute
You know, the more I wear them, the better they get. Still wouldn’t wear them for a hardcore shopping trip or anything like that, but they are fine to slip into when I am running out the door for errands or something like that. It is good to have a pair of gold shoes, of course!
But now that I spent that damned gift card, I never have to worry about it again. Haven’t been in a Gap since.
