My mother made a big mistake showing me this clutch. She found it while helping my grandmother clean out the closet. I told her I was borrowing it (along with a number of other vintage goodies to be posted later) to photograph it and put it up on Spork Fashion. Little does she know it is an extended borrow.
I don’t know what era this is from. The style looks 1950s, but the ingenuity and some of the materials look like they came from the 1970s. …

I went through many a fashion stage even as a child. Until not long after this photo was taken, in 1985, I would wear only dresses (that quickly segued into pants-only until high school).

I remember that this dress was easily my favorite. I loved the bright magenta and teal. I don’t remember the kittens being a big selling point, but those ruffles sure were. As if that dress weren’t busy enough on its own, I added a string of plastic heart-shaped beads in every color of …

I stumbled upon these beauties at a sample sale at Los Angeles boutique Bird Hidden in a corner, nearly buried beneath a rack of dresses, these pumps jumped out at me. I don’t own any pink shoes (or “champagne” shoes, as my friend called them, in order to justify me purchasing two pairs of pink shoes that day) but I think it is about time.

These are the Isadora style by Madrid designer Laetitia. Made of a buttery soft metallic suede, these shoes are noticeably different. The …

Camilla Wellton got into the fashion game later than most. Though a hobby since age 10, it wasn’t until college that she decided she needed designing to be more than a hobby. “It was during my math course – I was studying environmental science. I realized in the middle of a post-relationship grief that i needed to focus my time on uplifting, creative things or I wouldn’t be happy,” Camilla recalls. “I had cried before every exam the previous term, when we talked about the current state …

WaterField Designs Does it Again With Their Racer-X Laptop Cases

Not too long ago, I waxed poetic on how much I loved my Waterfield Sling bag. It is roomy and sturdy and well designed. WaterField Designs does it again with their Racer-X line of Mac laptop cases.

The main computer compartment is incredibly well padded. I am not daring enough to put my precious MacBook Pro in the bag and do a drop-test, but it more than stands up to everyday knocks and bangs. And the reason behind the strenghth? Layers and layers of padding. …

Minds out of the gutters, dear readers. I am talking about a quick blog post (getting the house ready for a new puppy).
It’s very last-minute, but starting August 19th, the Fashionably Conscious charity auction kicks off on Ebay. Electronics are an inescapable part of everyday life. It is only in the last couple of years that companies have even tried “fashion up” their products – and even then, it is limited to different colored cell phones and tacky crystals better left to teenagers. That’s where Jennifer Allison comes in.Tired of finding cell phone straps that were functional but without style, she decided to create her own. “I wanted something elegant and thought to use better materials and classic design sensibility to create something more unique,” …
