Pamper Your Sexy Beast

I’ve had dogs since I was three years old. I love them like a part of the family, but I never forget that they are not people. I do not dress them up in sweaters, nor do I carry them around in a purse (in fact, I have always had large dogs).

When I was asked to try out the signature fragrance by Sexy Beast, my husband rolled his eyes a little. But who doesn’t want their dog to smell good? The press released promised it was 100% vegan and 100% safe, so I gave it a shot. My “test subject” was Keegan, a 10-month-old rescued mutt.

We sampled the fragrance, a unisex blend of vanilla-infused musk, bergamot, patchouli, mandarin, and nutmeg. The instructions were simple: pour into hands, rub into fur. No problem - any chance to play with my puppy! I added some to my hands and went towards Keegan. Initially he seemed a little frightened of my hands - he backed away as my scented hands came near him. But as soon as I started rubbing his back and belly, he forgot all about it and just enjoyed the attention. He did not seem to notice the fragrance at all after that. The musk and spicier notes wore off quickly, leaving a warm vanilla scent that lasted about three days. And for all his laughing at me, when my husband came home that night and gave Keegan a hug, he commented on how wonderful the pup smelled - even without me mentioning the perfume.

In the interest of full disclosure, Keegan did get sick the next day. It is highly unlikely that Sexy Beast had anything to do with it, as he has gotten sick previously. We have not had a chance to test it again.

Sexy Beast offers a full line of doggy beauty products, including shampoo, conditioner, and various coat care products. They also offer matching t-shirts for you and your pup. If money is no object, try their elegantly designed dog crates, 18k gold engraved dog tags, or a limited-edition signature fragrance in a Swarovski-studded bottle.
