“Sample Sale” are two of the most beautiful words in shopping language. Once upon a time, they happened twice a year - if you are lucky. They usually require waking up before the sun, waiting in line, and sifting through racks and racks and racks of clothing, usually unorganized, and rarely finding the right size.

But thanks to the internet, you can shop sample sales almost every day of the week, from the comfort of your home or office.

  • Gilt Groupe was one of the first online sample sales. They specialize in high-end collections from Vera Wang, Bagdley Mishka, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and more. But don’t worry - their price points start at under $100 for designers such as Charlotte Ronson and Delman. Gilt Groupe serves up goodies for men, women, and children; shoes, handbags, jewelry, and evening wear are in abundance. They have multiple designers available every weekday.

  • Haute Look has a great variety of designers, almost all starting under $100. Lots of casual wear, day dresses, and high-end basics for the same price as low-end. A sampling of designers include Ella Moss, Gold Hawk, Eva Franco, C&C California, and Mason. While they mostly do women’s clothing and accessories, you can occasionally find children’s clothing, and the rare cosmetic sale. There are almost always at least two different designer sales open at any given time.

  • Rue La La is a new entry to the online sample sale club. They have lots of feminine designers ranging from BCBG to Prada; Nicole Miller to Cosabella. Rue La La features almost exclusively women’s clothing, but keep your eyes peeled for unbelievable deals on linens from the likes of Frette and Anabella Fiorento.

  • The Top Secret is one of the more elusive sales. At most, they offer one sale per week. Last time, it was on Marc Jacobs eyewear; the next sale starts September 3rd.

  • Daily Candy just started offering sample sales! First boutique opens September 10, so sign up fast!
  • Ideeli deals exclusively in accessories - namely handbags, jewelry, and eyewear. They prices are not as deeply discounted as some of the other sites, usually in the 20%-40% range, but they frequently offer giveaways. Designers featured here include Prada, Roberto Cavelli, Amrita Singh, Kale, Melissa Joy Manning, Pucci, Marc Jacobs, YSL, and Dolce & Gabbana.
  • Regent’s Secret is the “black sheep” of these sale sites. Specializing in punk rock couture for men and women, Regent’s Secret is the destination for Ed Hardy, Antik Denim, Charlotte Solnicki, and Faith Connexion.

  • Thanks to reader AngelaElle for cluing us in to Editor’s Closet! They offer established and “up and coming” designers, just like Spork Fashion! Can’t wait to see what their next sale has to offer. All of these sites are invite-only. If you are interested in joining one - or all - please leave a comment here with an email address, and Spork Fashion will hook you up.

Did I miss one? Let me know!
