LAFW Spring 2009: Amelia Toro

12 November 2008 437 views One Comment

Columbian designer Amelia Toro started her design business in New York, but soon moved her business back to her native Bogota as a way to provide desperately needed jobs to women from her home country. The former dancer incorporates “movement” into her pieces - layers of silk chiffons float gracefully down the runway. But it is an eclectic collection. Ethereal florals share the runway with structured stripes in a bold array of colors. There isn’t a lot of cohesiveness in Toro’s collection - it feels like two or three collections combined.

But I sure do like it.

Amelia Toro is a good designer indeed, but does she have a store, online perhaps? I would love a dress from her for the Xmas :)
    Thanks
