I Wear… Do You?

Dawn, the designer and owner of iWEAR… Do You? brings us a collection of jewelry that combines feminine and masculine elements skillfully and unexpectedly. “When I made the decision to use hardware to create my jewelry, it was a decision to take something that is stereotypically masculine and create something to be appreciated by women,” she tells Spork Fashion. “Hardware, in its simplest form, is a common metal unique in shape, and there’s absolutely no reason not to wear it.”

iWEAR… Do You? offers a full line of jewelry. Each piece is made with a piece of hardware - usually nuts and washers of varying sizes and finishes (don’t worry, this stuff is new and shiny. Nothing rusted over or caked with grime). The masculine hardware is softened with crystals and faux diamonds. “When I design any of my pieces, I picture the broad spectrum of women who will wear it. I want my designs to be appreciated by everyone, if possible.”

The “For Now” bracelet is spectacular. It is clunky and heavy and blingy without being trampy. It is amazing how smoothly it lays on my wrist. I love the satisfying weight of it. Plus I like to tell myself I am toning my arms by wearing it (key phrase here: that is what I tell myself). Granted, it is not very practical to, say, wear to the office - it bangs against the desk and keyboard like crazy. But it really begs to be worn for a night out on the town.

Besides providing beautiful, unique, and durable jewelry, Dawn’s jewelry goes for a good cause. She donates a portion of sales from certain pieces to Nest (an organization that provides micro-loans to women in the developing world to start their own businesses) and the Florida Breast Health Initiative (providing education, screenings, and awareness to uninsured, underserved women).
