T-Shirt Extravaganza!

4 August 2009 1,991 views No Comment

Even the most fashionable girl just wants the comfort that comes with a nice, soft shirt. But just because it is comfy doesn’t mean it can’t be fun, unique, and stylish. Here are five of Spork Fashion’s favorite tees….

Vintage Blue holds the exclusive license to the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (remember A League of Their Own? That league). Besides being devoted to adorable and empowering vintage and vintage-inspired designs, they are also devoted to making the world a better place. Five percent of profits are donated to charitable organizations. Their shirts are organic cotton printed with chemical-free dyes. They even strive for sustainability in the back office, from press kits to hang tags. Our favorite? Rule #1 from the charm school handbook (in addition to running bases, the girls also had to learn proper grooming): “Boyish bobs are not permissible. Hair should be well-groomed at all times.”

Blood Heart Gang makes education fashionable. Founded in 2008 by Michael Gomez, he was inspired to give back after an abusive life in the foster care system. Each of the organic, sustainable T-shirts is printed with a funky graphic of an inspirational figure: Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Benazir Bhutto, and Oscar Schindler, to name a few. On the back of the tee is a quick bio on why this person is so influential. BHG donates a portion of their profits to educational charities. Our favorite? Fearless flyer Amelia Earhart.

Love tattoos, hate the commitment? Check out Tees and Tats. Though the site wasn’t working at the time of this posting, these high-end tees are like wearing works of art. The designs are created by tattoo artist Marco Serio. Each limited edition is signed and numbered right on the tag. Our favorite? This Japanese-inspired koi fish back piece.

Worn Free helps you dress like a rock star, even if you are the farthest thing from it. Their shirts are fully licensed, exact replicas of T-shirts made famous by rock stars. Each shirt includes a sticker that is a photo of the rock star wearing your chosen shirt, and the story behind it. Choose from shirts made non-famous by Kurt Cobain, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett, Frank Zappa, John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Marc Bolan, Iggy Pop, and many more. Our favorite? Anything worn by The Ramones.

Pink Tigre designer Alston Chapman takes pride in his designs. Each tee is hand stenciled and painted for a “customized texture.” In addition, he is constantly experimenting with different inks and processes for further customization. His designs have even been seen on Desperate Housewives. Our favorite? “Je t’adore mon cheri,” the only design available at press time from this very new brand.
