Project Runway Rundown: Episode 4
Was it just me, or was this episode boring? Episode 4 saw the designers having to create cocktail dresses for a client – their models. The “twist?” They only have 12 hours to do it. Snooze.
There was no drama. The models were not difficult to work with, and didn’t make any outrageous demands. The outfits were equally dull. Personally, I didn’t think any of them were particularly spectacular. The judges made multiple comments to different designers about the fabric looking cheap. Why can’t the camera operators get a couple good close-ups? And frankly, I am bored with this cast. There are no strong personalities. I find most of the designers to be boring and a little whiny.
Okay, enough whining from me. Let’s get to the dresses:
- Qristyl: The losing design this week. It was just flat-out dull. The judges thought it aged the model. I didn’t see it but I almost fell asleep looking at it.
- Gordana: A cute, simple little dress, but one that may be better for day. Also, I feel like the color washed out the model
- Shirin: Shirin kept whining about how hard the color was to work with, but I think she did a nice job. There is some lovely back detailing, too
- Irina: I love this outfit, especially the jacket. It keeps the print of the dress from being too overwhelming or juvenile
- Johnny: One of the bottom three, the judges called this “wearable” – a blessing and a curse. In style, it is wearable, but in execution, it looks sloppy and ill-fitting
- Nicolas: Love. It fits the model like a dream, and is sleek and sophisticated
- Christopher: I go back and forth on this one. The picture makes it look a little blah, but I remember liking it on the runway
- Logan: The judges really hated this dress. I found it average, but the ribbons on the bodice are really bad.
- Ra’mon: It would take a really brave girl to wear this out – she looks like a blue ribbon winner at the county fair
- Carol Hannah: I think this was my favorite of the night. Beautiful combo of shape, texture, and color, and I love the gentle flounce in the back
- Epperson: Great detailing, very unique
- Althea: This was the winning look. Personally I found the bottoms to be sloppy and the model desperately needed a bra.
