This week’s costuming challenge was disappointing – most of the outfits were closer to RTW than film costumes. I will say that it is probably due to this being a one-day challenge. Had the designers had two days, I would like to think that they could make costumes that were far more extravagant.
On to the fashions…
- Logan: I like the combat wounds – nice touch. Otherwise, this outfit seems kind of blah.
- Carol Hannah: Apparently this is the only kind of outfit an action/adventure heroine would wear
- Louise: Again, boring. This looks far more like a RTW dress than a costume – certainly not a film noir costume. It’s sad, because this challenge seemed tailored for Louise, and she just blew it.
- Ra’mon: The losing design this week. Personally, I didn’t think it was that terrible – at least it was creative
- Althea: Another pretty dress that is more RTW than WOW
- Giordana: A pretty, well executed dress, but I agree with the judges – she brought nothing new to the table
- Christopher: One of the top three designs, I was just impressed that Christopher could put this together in a day. Great backstory, too
- Shirin: Best quote of the night was when Shirin said she wanted to design a saloon-girl dress without it looking too whore-ish. Someone want to clue her in on what saloon girls were?
- Epperson: He really went all-out for this new take on western wear. Fabulous
- Irina: I like the cape, but not crazy about the dress. It screams slutty BCBG
- Nicolas: My favorite, and the winner of the evening. This spacey Snow Queen is beautiful, imaginative, and well-executed
