About

Hi, my name is Alyse and I am a shopaholic.

I initially started this site as a hobby. After college, when I began to make real-world money, I needed to upgrade my wardrobe. I was done with the goth looks of high school and the teeny-bopper stores that sold clothing that disintigrated after six months. Good bye, Forever 21! So long, Charlotte Russe! See you in hell, Hot Topic! Now that I was buying “grown-up” clothes, I wanted to show them off. And so, Spork Fashion was born (MightySpork has been my long-time online identity). This site was meant as a vanity project, a way to brag about my cute new acquisition and boast about the great bargain I got, or share a star-crossed search for that perfect something.

I am shifting my focus a bit. I am still showing off the newest pieces from established hi-lo designers, but I also want to give exposure to new, up-and-coming designers. This site grows every day - more readers, more traffic, more partners across the web. I am dedicated to giving exposure to designers, and making sure this site - and the designers featured - are shown in as many places as possible. My links page and blogroll give an idea of some of the places you can find Spork Fashion. I am not skilled enough with the sewing machine to make my own unique designs, so I want look for the unique designs of others. I have never been one to shop at the Gap or Old Navy. I want to stand out. I want couture at K-Mart prices. I won’t bother trying to describe my style - I think you can decide for yourself by looking at my pictures. Plus, I don’t think I fit into any one or two or even ten catagories.

Some background about me: I am a native of Los Angeles (not one of these “I’ve lived in LA for 8 years, that automatically makes me a native” people that I run into all the time). That’s right, born and raised here - we are a dying breed. I am married, one rabbit, one puppy, no children. I was a competitive figure skater for six years. My “day job” is in television production: I produce, I do casting, I do script supervising. But that industry is feast or famine. There is always downtime between projects, so when I am not working in television, I devote myself to fashion. Besides shopping and blogging, I love reading (I buy books obsessively), knitting, video games, and photography. Luckily I never sleep, so I can get a lot more done.
