District Cotton Turns Old Art Into New

Everyone is going green, by using organic, sustainable materials. But what ever happened to recycling? Granted, recycling old products into new often uses the same amount of energy and produces just as much pollution – if not more. The best way to recycle is to reuse material in its current state. So District Cotton did just that. They have created a line of purses and carryalls that are made from vinyl advertisement banners.

“We get the materials directly from the companies that print them,” designer Rodrigo …

Rubber: It’s Not Just For Fetishists Anymore

When I think rubber, I think two things: ugly but functional home & garden supplies, and fetishists. “Stylish” never comes to mind. Jules Sherman is changing that. “Ever since I designed a cosmetic bag for Bath & Body Works with a little rubber brand tag, I wanted to use that material for other products. There is something beautifully tactile about the material,” Jules explains.

With a background in industrial design, it seems natural that Jules would design in relief. Her line includes pouches, luggage tags, belts, and hair …

WaterField Designs Does it Again With Their Racer-X Laptop Cases

Not too long ago, I waxed poetic on how much I loved my Waterfield Sling bag. It is roomy and sturdy and well designed. WaterField Designs does it again with their Racer-X line of Mac laptop cases.

The main computer compartment is incredibly well padded. I am not daring enough to put my precious MacBook Pro in the bag and do a drop-test, but it more than stands up to everyday knocks and bangs. And the reason behind the strenghth? Layers and layers of padding. …

Update on my Waterfield “Everything” Bag

I few months ago I wrote about my new “everything” bag by Waterfield Designs. Back then, I had only used that bag for everyday uses – work, gym, etc. But last week I put it through the real test – taking it on location – and it exceeded my wildest expectations.
It truly held everything I needed – script, notebook, wallet, sewing kit, camera, sunblock, etc. The pockets were perfectly placed so that sunglasses, cell phone, and pens were easily accessible at a moments notice. The material …

Tucker Paisley Creates Very Personal Handbags

It’s tough finding the perfect clutch. Whenever I go searching for one, they are too small, too overdone, or too oddly casual (Le Sport Sac, for one). Tucker Paisley brings us the Emma clutch in their new 2007 line – possibly the most perfect clutch ever.
“We wanted to do something different from what was out there which, was mostly leather bags with lots of stuff on them — jewels, fringe, hardware etc.,” says Tracy Fredkin, one the creators of Tucker Paisley. “We were going for a …

Waterfield Designs Offers A Sturdy New “Everything” Bag

Every girl has her “everything” bag. And every fashionista has a whole lot of “everything” bags. These bags are the big, sturdy bags that can fit your entire life in them – laptop and documents for work; towel and toiletries for the gym; sunscreen and magazine for the beach. There seems to be a never ending hunt for the perfect “everything” bag. I was using a wooly Kate Spade messenger bag for a while, but it was just the teeniest bit too small and got pretty …

I love a small handbag. For day-to-day use, I carry a large bag because there are a zillion things I need throughout the day: wallet, cell phone, sunglasses, iPod, hand cream, multiple lip glosses (to match every outfit and mood), business cards… who knows what else lurks in the dark recesses of my bag. So when it comes to an evening bag, I love a little clutch that forces me to pare down my totables.
What I love even more than clutches are wristlets. The tiny cuteness of …
