Heather Rama learned to sew against her will. “My mom taught me to sew in 7th grade because I was going to fail home ec. She spent a very frustrating evening teaching me how to sew.” Out of failure springs success. High school brought about an interest in vintage. “I liked vintage clothing because it was made so differently from modern throw away clothes and it was so unique. Vintage was still relatively cheap then, so I would buy it and redesign it or cut …

I have a love/hate relationship with boots. Up until recently, I had about a half-dozen pairs of boots. And I can’t remember wearing a single pair of them since high school. Even then, the wearings were few and far between. Back then, I hardly ever wore skirts, and it seemed pointless to wear knee-high boots with jeans. Even now, most of my skirts and dresses are far too summery to wear boots with. I have never really found boots to be particularly comfortable. My …

This skirt was the precursor to my skirt addiction. I purchased it from Anthrolpologie online. Skirts weren’t really my thing, but the picture on the website was gorgeous and it was unique, so I plunked down the cash for it. The first time I wore it I felt kind of awkward, so I stuck it back into my closet to “marinate”.

I tried this on while shopping with my friend. I liked it a lot, but liked two dresses, a top, and a pair of pants a lot more. Since I am on a “budget” (which means in any one shopping trip I cannot come home with more packages than I can explain to my husband) I left the skirt behind. It was $40 or $50 and I wasn’t sure I liked it $40 or $50 worth.
About a month later, I was back at Ann Taylor Loft. …

I went back and forth on this skirt for a few weeks. Picked it up at Macy’s for $35. How can you go wrong with 100% silk for $35? It sat in my closet for a couple of weeks while I tried to decide if it made me look like a hippie (and I hate hippies). Normally I am against tiered skirts, but it was very comfortable, plus inexpensive, plus it was SILK. I figured a nice top and a pair of killer heels will suck the …
