The fourth and final season of Ugly Betty is out on DVD. Check out our review.

Every fashionista worth her Wang loved Ugly Betty. The drama, the scandal, and oh the clothes! It was a dark day when Betty was canceled after only four short seasons. But they went out on a great note – really wrapped up the series well. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the final season, it is finally out on DVD. I won’t spoil it for you, but the cover sums it up pretty well: from Poncho to Honcho.

The DVD has a few special features. The bloopers are the best because they aren’t just scenes of the cast giggling. Trips, slips, goofs, and general horseplay make you wish you could have been on that set. The deleted scenes are fun though nothing special. The “Betty Goes Bahamas” featurette was pretty weak. Michael Urie and Becki Newton (Mark and Amanda) search for the rest of the cast at the resort they filmed at. It ended up being a 10 minute commercial for the Atlantis resort. There is also supposed to be some “Mode After Hours” webisodes, but I couldn’t find them on the disc.

Regardless of the special features, you need this set to complete your collection.

We get the EXCLUSIVE scoop from Milla Jovovich on what her future fashion plans are!

Despite the rave reviews, accolades, and strong sales, Jovovich-Hawk closed a couple years ago, and Milla Jovovich returned to acting. While on the Toronto set of her newest film, Resident Evil 4, we managed to get a few fashion questions in between questions about zombies and ninja moves.

Any plans to return to design?
I love to draw, I love clothing, so I would definitely love to do another line. Maybe a kids line. I have this fantasy of doing a mother-daughter line. Not “matchy-matchy”, but I’ve always been jealous of my daughter’s clothes because I find the best clothes for her. So like the daughter could have a little grey [felt] coat, and mom could have the [grown-up] tweed coat. It doesn’t totally match, but it has the same kind of feeling.

Are you very hands-on with the design and production of your lines?
I was with Jovovich-Hawk. I think that this time around, if I do another line, I would rather be a little more hands-off and retain my other careers at the same time. I feel like I kind of took a hiatus from acting and modeling and everything for four years to work on the line. It was just too hard. It was well received, but it was like, “ok, I have to go make money again and remember who I was before this all started.” It sucked me in to another universe.

Tara Stravinsky feminizes the necktie into something fun, sexy, and always in style.

I remember raiding my dad’s closet during the early 1990s menswear-as-womenswear fad. Those ties have nothing on these tyes.

These tyes are by Tara – Tara Stravinsky. She launched her accessories line in 2007 after nearly 10 years of research and mulling. Tyes by Tara strives to create a “socially acceptable, visually pleasing accessory that women crave.” By feminizing a symbol that is traditionally masculine, Tara also hopes to give women who wear her tyes “sexy confidence.” She changed the spelling to “tye” to make sure it is different from a traditional tie.

Tyes by Tara come in a wide range of styles. There are Skinny Tyes, long tyes on ribbon-and-chain necklaces; matching Wide Tyes; Bow Tyes, which are little bow necklaces; whimsical Side Tyes; bracelet Tylets; garter Leg Tyes, and dainty little Ring Tyes. Tara keeps the color palette simple, with red, pink, black and white. Pinstripes get a feminine touch with a lace overlay.

The most impressive part about these tyes is the craftsmanship. It would be easy to cheap out on the fabric or cut corners on the sewing, but Tara does not. In fact, the quality of her pieces is one of the most important things to Tara. It shows. The fabric is crisp. The seams are straight and tight. Each tye is double-faced for extra polish. The chain necklaces won’t turn your neck green. Every detail has been thought out.

If you are looking for a unique, sexy accessory, look no further than Tyes by Tara.

Lenore is my idea of the ideal woman

Tell us about your background.
I am from Winter Park, Florida. I graduated from Hamilton College in upstate New York where I was a Communications major and a Studio Art minor. Then I received a post graduate degree in Graphic Design from Parsons, The New School for Design, in New York City. Currently, I am a couple of months away from completing my MFA in Electronic Media Arts and Design at the University of Denver.

What is the process of creating the Ideal Woman necklace?
I am very interested in the concept of body hair and hair removal. I created a series of slip cast sculptures using a Barbie (the ideal woman) as my example and had chia pet grow out of areas of unwanted hair: the armpit, midsection, and leg. During that process, I fell in love with the shape of the midsection and started to explore different possibilities. I created a design based upon the shape of the midsection which was then laser cut in Lucite. Using technology as part of the process is important because in this digital age, women are inundated with images that culturally outline feminine beauty. Often, these commercially packaged versions of beauty are simply illusions created by advanced technology, such as digital image alteration and/or plastic surgery resulting in “cookie cutter women.”

What is the message behind the Ideal Woman necklace? What inspired it?
I created Ideal Woman: Necklace to reflect my belief that society is obsessed with the image of “the perfect woman.” The necklace demonstrates our culture’s desire to emulate a look that seems naturally impossible to attain. My artistic objective is to critique cultural trends that I find impractical or destructive to the female form. The advent and progress of technology has also changed our perception of the “real,” and, in turn, women’s idealized beauty. This leads to the conflict of the real and the mediated self. As an artist, I strive to express the absurdities, conflicts, and hypocrisies society presents about “ideal” women.

Why a necklace?
Everybody can wear a necklace!

Is there a significance behind the colors chosen?
For the first edition I selected colors that are opposites on the color wheel. For the second edition, just released in March, I started to look at the necklaces as a collection. I like wearing two necklaces together, so I wanted to pick colors that compliment the first edition and each other. I like really bright colors, so I tend to choose colors that are eye catching and that make a statement.

Your background is largely as a traditional and installation artist. Are you planning on more jewelry, or expanding the Ideal Woman line?
I plan on continuing the Ideal Woman line, but that is not to say that other jewelry designs won’t be in my future!

What projects are coming up for you?
I am currently working on a solo show titled “Ideal Woman: 36-24-36” which will take place this March 26- April 26 at the Hinterland Gallery, in Denver. This unique exhibition encourages visitors to view and help “mold” sculptural forms that are the dimensions of “perfect woman.” I am also finishing up the second edition of Ideal Woman: Necklace. My next big project is writing my thesis!

Spork Fashion takes a look at the Project Runway video game - we made it work. Plus, we announce the winners of our Project Runway tie-in contest!

Atari’s new Project Runway game for the Nintendo Wii is about as close as a video game can get to the Lifetime reality hit.

You are a contestant on the show, and have fashion challenges to complete. You are given a “recipe” (green tank top, long pink skirt, etc) which you must put together, and then add your own flair by adding detailing (trim, buttons, patterns, etc) and adjusting color shades. You are then asked to accessorize “thoughtfully,” choose a model, and pick out hair and makeup looks for them. All of this is timed. Once your look is complete, you head to the runway to strut your stuff (move the Wiimote and Nunchuck in time with the beat in order to strike a pose). You are given an overall score by Runway regulars Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia. It’s a little weird because still images of each judge pop up with a line of dialogue taken directly from the show, but then the subtitles beneath give a completely different opinion. Anyway, based on your score, you can unlock new outfits and accessories, as well as “quick play” mini games that allow you to compete against a friend in runway and photo shoot challenges.

All in all, it is quite a good game. Even though it is, for the most part, single player, it feels like a good slumber party game. I have played a number of other fashion video games (Style Savvy for Nintendo DS being one of my favorites) and I feel that Project Runway – rather than just letting you play stylist – allows you to build an outfit with your own nuances and modifications. At least as much as possible from a video game. The timed aspect adds to the difficulty, and makes it feel much more like the show.

My main complaint about this game is that the Nintendo Wii is not the ideal platform for a game such as this. Much of Project Runway – The Game relies on clicking small buttons to scroll through looks or make selections. The sometimes-dodgy Wiimote does not allow for the most precise targeting, which can make it extraordinarily frustrating. I would love to see this on the Nintendo DS or even the XBox or PS3 – something with a stable remote that will let you flip through inventory with buttons. My other grievance is with the weird use still photos of the show judges, the out-of-context quotes, and the occasional appearance by one of the season 5 cast members (also a still photo). It gives the game something of a cheap, rushed feel. However, these are minor issues on an otherwise fun game.

Congrats to the winners of our $50 Visa gift card giveaway: Jessica K. and Elaine H. Spend it well ladies!

Dear modern women,
We have created some fun hair accessories for your vintage heart. Please enjoy.
Love, Lulu Mae

Everything is feathered nowadays, and I love it. I have loved feathered accessories for as long as I can remember, back to days as a little girl, playing dress up with feather boas. Feathered accessories may be everywhere, but all are not created equal.

Love, Lulu Mae is a couture line of vintage and vintage-inspired hair accessories – and they are all feathered. Each piece is hand crafted by designer Agnes Miles in her Chicago studio. Agnes is inspired by “the strong and glamorous women of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.” To keep that spirit alive, Agnes uses vintage fabrics and brooches whenever possible. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind, and custom orders are welcomed.

Love, Lulu Mae’s accessories run the gamut of modest (like the red and black hair clip I am modeling) to the more flamboyant (like flapper and Frida Kahlo-inspired headbands). Recently, they launched their Bridal Couture service, where they will work with you to design a custom headpiece for you – even incorporating your own heirlooms into the piece. Had I only known about them for my own wedding – I may have been enticed to wear a veil!

Lulu Mae? We love you right back.
